My eyes are always bigger than my stomach, both in terms of food AND metaphorically in terms of my life goals. I have always learned by taking projects that exceed my skill level. I think it's a good way to grow and challenge yourself when it comes to skills (with food, it unfortunately tends to end in a stomach ache).
I spent a lot of time on computers and the internet when it first became popular and taught myself to code websites as a teen. It was a great way to learn and a creative outlet for an introverted me. However, try as I might, my code skillz have not been able to keep up with the crazy expansion of the internet. If I were to use only my late 90's html knowledge, this whole website would be tables, rollover links, animated gifs, and tiled backgrounds.
The original website for the movie Space Jam (I realize, this reference dates me) still exists. Click through the check it out.
...however, with all this 90's revival, perhaps that would have been the way to go!
So, in the case of the world wide web (remember that?) home for Blueprints For Sewing, my ambition to build an online community far exceeds my ability to program such.
Eventually I might be able to enlist the help of a skilled website technition, but for now, I'll have to skirt by on squarespace css hacks and creative ingenuity.

Alexis made her Cabin dress from natural linen and re purposed a vintage dress to create bias binding and pockets!
Andrea made her Cabin top in a solid cotton, the perfect backdrop for her brass statement necklace.
As the collection of Blueprints makes grows, I plan to develop a platform to better showcase all of your lovely makes...hence the current gallery's beta status. I look forward to seeing all sorts of wonderful Cabins, from humble cotton abodes, to elaborate sparkly glamping-type-situations! I've got a new Cabin in the works that I can't wait to share.
In other news, you can now find Blueprints For Sewing at a shop I have oft admired from afar, Fancy Tiger Crafts in Denver, CO. They also have an online shop! and a brand new, very cute in-house pattern called The Sailor Top!
